|
 |
| |
|
VoIP (Voice over Internet
Protocol) Telephone Server
|
| Enabling Communications
Ltd offer a full range of IP phone systems from major manufactures including Splicecom, NEC, Mitel
and Inter Tel. |
 |
An IP phone system
gives you the freedom to call local or anywhere in
the world using the Internet to provide low cost
calls and using the very latest technology at very
affordable pricing.
More and more small and medium sized companies are moving over to IP
phone systems to enjoy the savings that can be
achieved. Our systems start from 4 to 10,000
extensions with all the features expected of a
business telephone system. |
| |
 |
What is an IP Phone System?
|
|
IP Phones (Internet Protocol) or
VoIP Phones (Voice
over Internet Protocol), as it
is also known, is a way to make phone calls using
the internet (or your company's private network) as
the transmission method, instead of by a landline.
You can make and receive calls from other IP phone
system
users, mobile users, and people with ordinary
landlines. |
|
The integration between any ordinary
line and VoIP is complete and undetectable to
callers and call costs are much reduced or quite
often free. |
|
|
Why use an IP Phone Systems
|
| IP Phone System call costs |
|
| Call cost savings for
everyone with IP phone systems is one reason. It cuts your
business and personal telephony cost. |
 |
Calls from an IP phone system to another
IP phone go via the internet. Providing you
have access to an internet connection, at home,
work, hotel or wherever you happen to be on the
planet, your
IP
phone system to IP phone system call cost will be
FREE!
Calls from IP phones to landlines or mobiles
will start their journey via the internet and will
only use the landlines or airwaves for the last part
- to connect to the non-IP phone. Therefore you only
pay call cost for just the last part of the IP phone
call's journey,
which is considerable cheaper (and getting cheaper)
than paying for the full distance. |
IP
Phone Systems - Ok, the benefits?
|
| IP Phone System flexibility |
Apart from IP phone call cost savings, what are
other benefits? Flexibility is another great
advantage of IP phone systems. Small to medium-sized businesses
with several employees, especially those with
distributed offices or tele-workers, are likely to
get the maximum benefit from IP Phone systems.
You can configure your IP phone system to give whatever
impression you want to customers. For example, if
you have employees, offices or travelling personnel in other areas of
the UK or abroad, you can give them all
an extensions on your main office number and calls
can be placed as usual. Or give them their own numbers
with the same area code as your head office. No
matter where they are, no-one
will know whether you have city centre offices, or a
virtual office, in your main office or at home!
Whilst working away your IP phone will call and
receive calls as if you were back at the office, no
need to transfer the calls before leaving the
office.IP Phone Integration
Another benefit is that an IP phone also usually
allows SMS massaging, email, data transfer and fax
facilities to name but a few. Many IP phone systems
also integrate with office software such as
Microsoft and accounting packages etc.. |
|
|
IP Phone Systems - What do I need?
|
|
There are 3 main
options: |
 |
A software IP phone: a piece of
software that you run on your computer that allows
you to make and receive phone calls. You then use
this with a headset or a speaker phone to provide
the microphone and speakers.
A VoIP adaptor: a physical adaptor which
allows you to plug a traditional analogue or
cordless phone into a IP system. This is helpful if
you are upgrading to a IP phone system as they allow
you own phones to be used.
An IP Phone: this is a full telephone which
is 100% VoIP. It will plug into an Ethernet port on
your broadband network. |
What
are the
differences?
IP phones
provide
better sound
quality than
software
phones
because the
telephone
has signal
processing
chips in it
which are
dedicated to
handling the
voice call,
although many soft phone programs allow a phone to
be connected to your computer or laptop which give
you the best of both worlds.
IP phones
also provide
greater ease
of use for
most
customers as
the familiar
interface of
a telephone
(dial and
pick up the
receiver)
means that
they are
able to make
and receive
phone calls
easily
without
having to
understand a
new computer
program. The VoIP adaptor option allows you to make use of
all your old phones which can help save costs when
you start upgrading to a IP phone system.
That said,
software
IP phones are
useful for
customers
who travel
using
laptops
regularly,
and also
desk bound
operators
who are
handling
high volumes
of calls. |
